18th Day of the Omer
My father once told me that a person is judged by three things. "First is a good name," he said. "Integrity and a good name are really all we have in life." He continued, "You must also have a sense of humor." Then he looked at me with kindness and love and said, "And dear, you need to work on yours." Years passed. And one day I found myself telling someone his words of wisdom, but when I came to the third thing by which we are judged I realized I had forgotten what it was. So I asked him and he said he too had forgotten. So I set off on a journey in search of the third principle by which my life will be judged. It's been quite a journey so far. Have compassion as I try to figure it out and, in the meantime, judge gently of me.
