Learning Opportunities
Learners’ Circles
You pick the place. You pick the time. You pick the topic.
Learners’ Circles are the hottest new thing in twenty-first century adult study. Gather your own group of 7-10 friends, pick a Jewish topic you’re interested in studying, and one of our amazing clergy will teach 3-4 sessions at a time and place that is convenient for you. It’s that simple.
Previous topics have included:
- Spirituality for empty-nesters
- Raising children with values and ethics
- Healthy bodies, healthy souls
- Jewish beliefs about God
- What modern Jews need to know about Christianity
- A Jewish man’s responsibilities to his family
- Maimonides’ 13 principles of faith
To start a Learners’ Circle, please email Phyllis Steiner at phyllissteiner@comcast.net.
Searchers Groups
Study. Community. Spiritual Growth.
Searchers is the ultimate in Jewish learning as spiritual practice. In a Searchers group, sacred text becomes the vehicle for exploring your own spirituality, for making new friends, and for sharing new ideas and contemplating life’s experiences in the safety of a caring community. Groups are lay-led and meet on an ongoing, monthly basis. All of us are searching. Now you don’t have to do it alone.
To join a Searcher’s group, please email Beth Kon at msbkon@aol.com.
Ongoing Learning Opportunities
Sunday Morning Adult Enrichment
Every Sunday when there is Religious School
All Adult Education programs and Hebrew classes will take place at BJBE, 1201 Lake Cook Road.
Has your child ever asked you a question about Judaism and you didn’t know enough to give a good answer? If so, you are not alone. The good news is that it’s never too late to start your journey of learning, and Sunday mornings, when your kids are in Religious School, is a great time to do it. So drop your kids off at Caruso, then come over to 1201 Lake Cook Road to grab some coffee and a bagel at the new Beit Cafe, and sit down with fellow parents and congregants of all ages to learn something new about Judaism.
Sunday morning adult enrichment, which meets every Sunday when there is Religious School, will feature several mini-series throughout the winter and spring. Our first mini-series will be “God for Grown-ups.” Please watch your email for announcements of future topics and speakers.
