Junior Youth Group Welcome and Opportunities
Hello Junior Youth Group Families,
My name is Scott Goode. I am writing to you as the very excited new 2009-2010 BJBE Junior Youth Group advisor. I would like to take this time to introduce myself. I grew up here at BJBE and was an active member of the Junior Youth and Senior Youth Groups. I also was a machonik for the 5th grade and held a position on the youth group board. I graduated from the University of Illinois in May 2008 with a degree in Geology. I studied in Israel for a year at Ben-Gurion University in Beersheva. For the past 14 summers I have attended OSRUI in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, and the past two summers, I worked as the unit head of the work-study program for seniors in high school called Avodah. After college, I worked in California for two and a half months as an outdoor educator. When I returned, I began my work as a religious school teacher here at BJBE for the 7th and 8th grade classes. I also am the Senior Youth Group advisor and teach hebrew at Lakeside Congregation. This year I just began school to earn my teaching certificate at National Louis.
For the 2009-2010 year, I am hoping to put together a fun and event filled calendar for the JYG. Already, we have a bowling event set to happen on October 4th at 2:30 at Brunswick in Deerfield and a joint JYG and SYG event to the Chicago Bulls game on November 14th.
If you ever have any questions, please feel free to email me at sgoode2@gmail.com or find me in the hallways of Caruso on Sunday mornings. Shanah Tovah! And I can't wait to kick off this year!

From the Junior Youth Group
Shalom JYGers and JYG families!
I hope you had a happy and sweet Rosh Hashanah and an easy fast for Yom Kippur. The Junior Youth Group (6th to 8th graders at BJBE) is getting into full swing as we move into October. We have some exciting events coming up for the 2009-2010 year! We will be joining the Senior Youth Group and many other Jewish youth groups from around the Chicago area at a
Bulls game in November. We will be having a shul in at the new synagogue and we are looking to join with another youth group for a weekend retreat to OSRUI. In order to make sure that we can fund these events and that you are informed about these exciting events, we are starting membership dues for the junior youth group. Dues will be $5 for the year. The dues funds that we collect will be used in a variety of ways. They will help fund our activities throughout the year. They also will help pay for food, drinks, and activities.
You do not need to be a member to come to our events. However there are some benefits to paying dues. You will be put onto an email list that will send out flyers and reminders of upcoming events as well as a phone list so you can get phone calls to help remind you about our events. And best of all you will receive discounts for our events.
Please send your Membership Dues sheet with a check made to BJBE JYG to the BJBE office at 901 Milwaukee Avenue with Attn: JYG. Dues can be sent at any time. However, only after we receive your dues will you be added to the email and phone list and be eligible for the discount at events. If you have any questions please contact Scott Goode at sgoode2@gmail.com.
Also don’t forget to check us out on the BJBE website, BJBE.org under youth to learn about upcoming events and find our flyers!
Sincerely,
The BJBE Junior Youth Group
