2002 Our Demographic Task Force begins a detailed analysis of our congregation’s demographics, as well as trends in the Jewish population of Chicago's northern and northwest suburbs.
2003 Their work shows that the areas of rapid growth are occurring to the north of BJBE, in Northbrook, Deerfield, Buffalo Grove, and surrounding areas.
2003 The Board of Trustees engage fundraising specialists EHL Consulting to interview members and analyze BJBE’s fundraising capability.
2004 At BJBE's Annual Meeting, the Congregation votes to authorize the Board to acquire a site within the approximate boundaries of Willow Rd., Milwaukee Ave., Waukegan Rd., and Deerfield Rd..
2005 A prospective site is identified at 1201 Lake Cook Rd. The Architect and Research Committee conducts a comprehensive review of the property and determines that it is ideally suited for BJBE’s program.
August 2006 BJBE's Board of Trustees votes unanimously to acquire the property.
November 2006 The Deerfield Village Board accepts the unanimous recommendation of its Plan Commission and votes to allow for a zoning variance so BJBE can build a synagogue in Deerfield.
January 2007 BJBE takes ownership of the property.
September 2007 Groundbreaking ... BJBE begins construction of its new home.
Autumn 2008 Phase I of construction, including the main sanctuary, is completed.BJBE is on its way to achieving its vision!
