Our first ever skiing event was a tremendous success. We had 16 skiers, ranging from the uninitiated to advanced, with ages from small children to us, more mature, adults. The weather was wonderful, the crowds were small, and the friendships made were priceless. A few pictures can be found at the temple web site (we were all having too much fun to take many). A special thanks to Paul Hinds for putting this together.
Family Bowling Night—for those of you who missed it, you lost out. It included pizza, pop, and a great deal of fun. Pictures are on the temple web site. Thanks to Dan Jaeger for setting this up, and the efforts he made to pull this off while on his sick bed. We are wishing him a speedy recovery from his broken leg.
Due to the popularity of “Vice Squad: Jewish Perspectives on Gambling, Drinking, and other Pursuits” by Rabbi Stoller, we are starting our 2nd set of Study, Supper, & Stoller sessions. The topics will be:
2/23 – Inter-Faith Marriage
3/16, 4/20 - "Jews and Politics" A Discussion of Why Are Jews Liberals? by Norman Podhoretz
5/11 -TBA
The class includes dinner. For more information, see the flier or contact Fred Beslow (FredBeslow@GMail.Com) at (847) 272-7359.
Our 2nd Annual Texas Hold-em Poker Tournament is coming on Sunday, February 21, 4 p.m. There will be spectacular prizes, food, silent auction, and much more. Net proceeds will go to the temple’s Sustaining Gifts fund. ALL ADULTS ARE WELCOME (there is even a non-players rate for those that wish to come and watch). See our flier or contact Todd Cohan at (847) 275-9845.
Watch for other events that are in planning, including BBB (Breakfast, Briefing, & Brotherhood), bike rides, a golf outing, and our Walk for Israel Breakfast on May 2.
To see all the most current goings-on at the Men’s Club, visit our page on the temple web site by going to Community | Men’s Club. It has all the latest information, fliers about our upcoming events, and more. And see pictures of all the Men’s Club events in the temple picture gallery.
Better yet, join the Men’s Club, make new friends, have fun, and support our activities and the temple. Or try it out—we are having an open meeting at the temple on Thursday, February 18, 7:30 pm. This is where we field new ideas, and start the planning process for our events. I am looking forward to seeing you there!
