Who We Are

BJBE is an inclusive and welcoming community. We encourage participation from all who seek a connection to Jewish life and want to be part of our sacred community regardless of religious background, race, ethnicity, gender, socioeconomic status, political affiliation, ability, age, sexual orientation, and gender identity. We encourage all to participate in our community, regardless of knowledge of Hebrew or Judaism.

Israel Committee

The BJBE Israel Committee presents programs and activities to promote the BJBE community's knowledge, awareness, and support of the State of Israel.  The committee works with congregants who seek to travel to Israel for various reasons, including tourists, students, and volunteers. For further information contact Israel Committee chair Marla Goldberg.

Israel

At BJBE, Israel is not simply a committee or program; it is a core value. We express this through our commitment to educational symposiums, cultural events, a robust Hebrew curriculum for adults, and yearly congregational trips to Israel. We offer both adult and family trips, as well as a triennial pilgrimage to Kolin, Czech Republic, birthplace of one of our Holocaust Torah scrolls.

Inclusion at the JLC

Our Jewish Learning Center has an Inclusion Coordinator, who helps to provide a safe and nurturing Jewish education within the general BJBE classroom for students requiring additional support or accommodations. Diana Slatopolsky, long time BJBE member, Sunday School teacher, and school psychologist, provides guidance to our classroom teachers, students, and parents. If you are interested in exploring options for your child please contact Diana.

Inclusion

“FOR MY HOUSE SHALL BE CALLED A HOUSE OF PRAYER FOR ALL PEOPLES”

-Isaiah 56:7

Inclusion means that all people, regardless of their ability, have the right to be a valuable and participating member of their community.
